Why we started
Great destination, hard to plan.
São Tomé & Príncipe is one of the most rewarding places to travel in Africa and one of the hardest to plan from abroad.
Information is fragmented and often out of date. Many of the best local guides and drivers are easiest to reach by WhatsApp in Portuguese. Príncipe has its own logistics. Travellers end up stitching together forum posts, old blogs and phone numbers, with no way to tell what is current.
We built São Tomé Trip to fix that: clear, dated, sourced information that anyone can use for free, and a planning service for travellers who would rather have someone arrange it with them.
How we work
- We plan remotely. We are not based on the islands. Local guides, drivers and operators deliver your trip; we find them, agree clear terms and coordinate.
- We say what we know, and how. Every guide page shows when it was last reviewed and how. We never invent reviews, prices or availability.
- We keep it personal. No booking engine. A person reads your message and replies.
- We are not the only option. Hotels, local agencies and guidebooks can help too. We aim to be the clearest.
How we make money
You pay the total in your quote; there are no extra booking fees. That price covers the local services and our planning and coordination work. Your guides and drivers are paid fairly for their work.
Found something out of date?
Things change quickly on the islands: roads, schedules, prices, who is operating. If you have been recently and something on this site is wrong, tell us. We update pages and change their review date when we do.
