Eleven days on both islands
Six nights on São Tomé, three on Príncipe and a last night back near São Tomé airport, so a delayed island hop does not cost you your flight home.
This is a researched planning example, not a fixed package or a trip we have run on these exact dates. Drive times are estimates. Flights, boats, guides and rooms are confirmed for your dates only when we quote, and the order often changes around the domestic flight schedule and the weather.
Day by day

Day 1. São Tomé city
Arrive in São Tomé
The airport sits on the edge of the capital, so the transfer is short. Depending on your arrival time, walk the seafront Marginal, change some euros at a bank rather than the airport desk, and get a local SIM card sorted.

Day 2. São Tomé city
North coast and the roças
A full day with a driver-guide west along the north coast: Roça Agostinho Neto, beaches and fishing villages towards Neves.

Day 3. São Tomé city or a highland lodge
Cloud forest
Monte Café and a guided walk in the Obô forest towards Lagoa Amélia. Good birding if you start early.

Day 4. The south
East coast to the far south
Boca do Inferno, Santana and São João dos Angolares on the way, with a stop at a viewpoint over Pico Cão Grande.

Day 5. The south
Ilhéu das Rolas
Boat from Porto Alegre to Rolas and the equator monument, then beaches. In turtle season, ask your lodge about night walks.

Day 6. São Tomé city
Back north
Return to the capital, with time for a guided Cão Grande walk in the morning if you are fit and the weather allows. Sleep near the airport for tomorrow’s flight.

Day 7. Príncipe
Fly to Príncipe
Morning flight to Príncipe, around 40 minutes. Your transfer meets you at the airstrip; the afternoon is for Santo António, the island’s small capital.
Bring enough euros in cash for Príncipe before you leave São Tomé. -
Day 8. Príncipe
Beaches and a boat trip
Praia Banana and the north coast, or a boat trip to the Bay of Needles (Baía das Agulhas), depending on sea conditions.

Day 9. Príncipe
Roça Sundy and the forest
Visit Roça Sundy, where the 1919 solar eclipse expedition tested Einstein’s general relativity, and take a guided forest walk. From roughly July to September, swap a half day for a whale-watching trip.

Day 10. São Tomé city
Fly back to São Tomé
Return flight to São Tomé and a final night near the airport. We do not recommend connecting straight onto an international flight on the day you leave Príncipe.
Inter-island flights are sometimes delayed. This buffer night protects your flight home. -
Day 11. Departure
Fly home
A short transfer to the airport for your international flight.
